Admit it, you’re curious. What’s it like to breathe underwater? Now you can find out! Discover Scuba Diving provides the opportunity to see if scuba diving is for you. During this introductory course, you’ll learn how to use scuba equipment in shallow water without the commitment of signing up for a certification course.

The Fun Part

It’s all fun! That first breath underwater is the start of a whole new adventure.

What to Expect

Our professional instructors start with the basics; a bit of skills, some safety rules, and what each piece of equipment does in the water. Then it’s time to get in the pool! Your instructor will show you how to use your gear, and before you know it, you’ll be diving under the surface.

What Do You Need?

Bring your sense of adventure and a swimsuit and towel, we’ll provide the rest. Because it’s an outdoor activity, you’ll want to wear sunscreen.

PADI Learn to Dive

That first breath underwater is a thrilling experience; but even more exciting is the opportunity to visit fish in their natural environment, swim over pristine reefs, and explore mysterious wrecks. Learn to dive with Jupiter Dive Center and join the millions of divers with basic certifications. It all starts here.

Whether you dive on vacation or live by the ocean, going beneath the waves opens up a whole new realm of possibilities. Experience the weightlessness of neutral buoyancy as you explore the underwater environment. The third largest barrier reef runs off Southern Florida’s coast and offers divers the opportunity to visit the only coral reef in the United States. Vibrant fish, curious turtles, and goliath groupers are all just a splash away.

What to Expect

Learning to dive starts in your own home with eLearning. Once finished with the academic coursework (about 8 hours of study), students will meet with an instructor and spend 3 half-days developing their skills. Typically, students start in a pool or other “confined water” location and learn basic skills such as mask clearing and regulator recovery. From there, class moves to the ocean where students demonstrate competency with the skills they have already learned.  Students will complete 4 open water dives. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be certified as an Open Water or Junior Open Water Scuba Diver depending on their age.

What Do You Need?

Contact Jupiter Dive Center to enroll in and complete the eLearning academics and schedule your in-water instruction. Divers need to have their own mask, fins, snorkel, equipment bag and a logbook to track their training dives. Jupiter Dive Center will provide all other required gear. Parental consent is required for students age 10-17 years old (students under 15 years of age will be certified as a Junior Open Water diver).

The Details

  • Basic scuba diving certification is offered every two weeks
  • The eLearning academics must be completed and present paperwork showing completion of the learning modules
  • Upon completion of the eLearning portion, students will spend 3 half-days developing their skills in confined water (pool), and open water environments
  • Students must have their own mask, fins, snorkel, equipment bag and logbook. All other equipment is provided
  • The basic scuba diving course costs $609.00 plus e-Learning
  • Classes on your schedule and private classes are offered for an additional charge.

It’s time to up your game. Time to polish your navigation ability, dial in your buoyancy, and increase your confidence. Advanced Open Water Diver encourages you to continue to develop your abilities and introduces you to new underwater adventures. Let Jupiter Dive Center expand your underwater horizons.

This class is all about you. What do YOU want to explore? All divers will learn about deep diving, underwater navigation, and buoyancy control. After that, two additional adventure topics are chosen in collaboration with your instructor! Some of the areas you may want to consider include boat diving, digital underwater imaging, drift diving, fish identification, night diving, wreck diving, and more!

What to Expect

What to expect depends on the adventures chosen, but plan on five dives: a combination of boat charters, shore dives, or night dives, depending on availability. The academic portion of this course is completed online and must be finished prior to the dives.

What Do You Need?

Again, this depends on the adventure dives. For example, underwater photography requires a camera. If you want to learn more about night diving, then you must have a primary and a secondary light. But don’t worry, your instructor will let you know exactly what you need. That said, all Jupiter Dive Center boat charters are drift dives, and every diver—regardless of selected specialties—must have their own surface marker buoy and a dive computer.

The Details

  • This advanced open water course is available on a regular schedule and on demand if the students require specific dates. Call to check availability.
  • Prerequisites: Each AOW student must be Open Water and Nitrox certified prior to the class. Divers must present their certification cards at check-in.
  • Gear & tanks are not included. Required equipment for this course: compass, computer, knife/cutting device, slate, reel, and surface marker buoy. Additional equipment requirements may be necessary and will be discussed when the final adventure dive is chosen.
  • Students will initially meet at Jupiter Dive Center.
  • The advanced open water diver certification is $629, plus online academics.
  • For a customized Your Way class schedule, there is an additional fee of $150. Private classes are also available.
